A Mix of Old and New

 With a population of just over 15,000, Johnstown is a small, but growing community. There are many new housing developments that feature modern homes with more affordable prices than you may find in nearby Longmont or Ft. Collins.

As the town’s home development has grown, so, too, has the need to develop more commercial outlets for residents and visitors. Near the intersection of I-25 and U.S. Highway 34, you can shop at Johnstown Plaza. The Plaza features more than a million square feet of retail space that includes retail chains, an indoor shooting range, and even a six-story tall ferris wheel inside the Scheels All Sports store.

If modern and commercial aren’t for you, that’s ok! Johnstown works hard to preserve the historic charm of its downtown. Along Parish Street, visitors can take a step back into Johnstown’s past as a regional market community during the late 19th and early 20th century as they stroll along historic masonry, wood, and stone buildings. With roots that run deep in agriculture, this tradition continues today when local farmers set up shop along Parish Street to sell their produce every Friday in August.
