Did you know that you can live in a neighborhood where you can not only have access to a small airport and runway, but also park your airplane at your home? Yes, you can!
Sounds awesome right?
The Erie Air Park neighborhood in Erie, Colorado offers the aviation enthusiast and private (or aspiring) pilot the chance to have the best of many worlds: amazing mountain views, large lots, and access to an airport literally next door. The ability to take your plane from your home to the runway then to your favorite ski destination in the winter sounds pretty amazing.
The Erie Air Park neighborhood sits just west of the Colorado National Golf Club and about 10 minutes south of Old Town Erie. Check it out on a map here. If you’re familiar with the Vista Ridge and Anthem Highlands neighborhoods, you’ve most likely driven by the Erie Airport. The commute time to Boulder is about 23 minutes while the commute to Denver is 32 minutes.
Not all homes have hangars though. You’ll want to do your research with exploring the covenants, taxi easements through the neighborhood, and general rules around use of the airport. Check out the HOA’s website at Erie Air Park HOA. You can also contact the Erie Municipal Airport at the website Vector Air.
